Hallo,

Changing Sign-On Information Automatically
Incident Summary

Problem Summary:
How can the sign-on information for a .WS profile be changed automatically using iSeries Access for Windows V5R2M0?

Resolution:
To determine what user ID sign-on information is being used, within PC5250 click on Communication->Configure->Properties. The sign-on information can be changed here. If it is set to Use Operations Navigator default, it can be changed in iSeries Navigator. Right click on the system name or IP address and selecting Properties, then the Connection tab.

To change automatically, edit the .CAE profile. The .CAE profile does not get created automatically. It gets created only after making a change in .WS profile properties by clicking on Communication->Configure->Properties. Once a change has been made, a successful reconnect must be made and the PC5250 session closed. That is when the .CAE profile gets created. It will be created in the same directory where the .WS profile was created.

Once the .CAE file is created, it can be changed by opening it with Wordpad and changing the UserIDSource= to one of the following:

1=Use Default User ID, promt when needed
2=Prompt Everytime
3=Use Windows user name and password prompt when needed
0=Use Operations Navigator Default

Once the .CAE profile has been changed, the next time the .WS profile is opened it will use the UserIDSource specified in the .CAE profile. If there is more than one .WS profile, follow the above steps to create and change the .CAE profile for each .WS profile because each .WS profile uses its own .CAE profile.
