Wann wird dieses PTF angelegt?

Hallo Forum,

ich habe von IBM ein PTF empfohlen bekommen, in dessen Coverletter folgender Satz steht:

"This fix is activated during the next IPL of the system after the PTF has been applied"

Heisst das, daß ich 2 x IPL machen muß, damit das PTF angelegt wird?

Es handelt sich um das PTF MF40627. Das ist für unsere 2780 Plattenkontroller) + 5708 (Auxiliary Write Cache) bestimmt.

Hallo Henrik,
da brauchst Du keine 2 IPL, sondern eigentlich mit go ptf und
Auswahl 1 und 2 das genannte MF40627 permanent anlegen.
Danach wird bei dem nächsten IPL das permanent angelegte Ptf
erst aktiv, aber ich denke Du solltest die Installationsanweisung
beachten:

If superseded PTF MF32934 is already permanently applied, the
following special instructions do not need to be followed.
Otherwise, take these steps prior to applying this PTF:

1. Determine whether MF32787 or MF32853 are temporarily applied on the
system. If neither PTF is temporarily applied, proceed to step 4. If
either PTF is temporarily applied, proceed to step 2.

2. Remove the temporarily applied PTF (MF32787 or MF32853) from the
system. Then, perform a B-side IPL. If the B-side IPL fails, proceed
to step 3. If the B-side IPL is successful, proceed to step 4.

3. Since B-side IPL failed following removal of either MF32787 or
MF32853, perform an A-side IPL.

4. Apply this PTF to the system.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUPERSEDED PTF MF34807 :

This PTF should be permanently applied as soon as possible.

This fix is activated during the next IPL of the system after the PTF ha
s been applied.

Ja, das habe ich zuerst auch gedacht, aber zu beachten ist, dieses PTF spielt ja einen neuen Firmwarestand auf den Controller.

Und wenn ich diesesen Satz genau übersetze, dann bedeutet dieser:

"Nachdem das PTF permanent angelegt wurde (was einen IPL benötigt),ist ein IPL notwendig, um die Firmware auf dem Controller zu aktivieren. "

Summa Summarum sind das zwei IPL.

ich denke, wenn man das Ptf mit go ptf und Auswahl 1 und 2
anlegt wird es automatisch permanent angelegt.

Entschuldige ich meine MF40868 und NICHT MF40627.

ich habe das Ptf gerade heruntergeladen. Man benötigt wirklich
2 IPLs.
